CSMA-SEMNI

Workshop on Numerical techniques for computation speedup: towards real-time simulation

Program is now available.

2nd Joint Thematic Workshop CSMA-SEMNI:
Numerical techniques for computation speedup: towards real-time simulation

French and Spanish national associations, Computational Structural Mechanics Association (CSMA) and Spanish Society of Numerical Methods in Engineering (SEMNI) agreed recently in launching a series of thematic workshops. This second workshop will be devoted to the topic of Numerical techniques for computation speedup and will be held at Biarritz (France) from 2nd to 4th February, 2015.

Following the success of the first workshop, held in Jaca, Spain, in 2013 and devoted to model order reduction, this second edition is devoted to widen a little bit the scope by including any type of numerical technique intended towards real-time simulation (in a wide sense). Therefore, the following list of potential methods and/or applications (not exhaustive) could be envisaged:

  • Model order reduction of any type
  • Parallelization on CPUs or GPUs
  • Domain decomposition
  • Advanced discretization techniques (meshless, FV, FE, FD, …)
  • Multigrid
  • Pre-conditionners
  • Homogenization
and, in general, any technique with potential applications on
  • Virtual surgery
  • Dynamic data driven application systems
  • Real-time decision taking
  • Simulation on deployed platforms
  • Augmented reality
  • Multi-scale
This year a special emphasis will be put on an active participation of the youngest members of our communities. Doctoral students and post-docs are encouraged to submit their contributions and to participate actively in the discussions. No parallel sessions will be held, with an eye towards an active exchange of experiences between our members.

This workshop will have a list of renowned specialists from both sides of the Pyrenees. The aim of the workshop is to bring together the two communities so as to be able to share experience and knowledge. It is intended to be a place to create closer ties among the members of spanish and french computational communities.

These workshops will take place every two years at both sides of the frontier. In this second case, we will also launch the series of events celebrating SEMNI's 25th anniversary.

In this second occasion, the organization will be carried out by members of the ESTIA Research of ESTIA.
